Healthy Ideas for Back to School Eating & Drinking

Brown Bag 1

Lunch: Peanut butter and jelly on whole grain bread, celery sticks, apple, pretzels, juice
PLUS: A small bag of trail mix and juice
TIP: Pre-fill 10 lunch bags ahead of time with wise snacks to save time

Lunch: Turkey sandwich on whole grain bread, with cheese, lettuce & tomato, grapes, chips, 1 or 2 cookies, water
PLUS: A bag of popcorn and flavored water
TIP: Think about about buying wise food for child's lunch and snacks when you are deciding on regular groceries. You will save a lot of money and provide your child with healthier food

Lunch: Chicken and cheese sandwich on whole grain bread, sliced peppers, cherries, apple juice, a small bag of no trans fat animal crackers
PLUS: An orange, and a small bag of peanuts
TIP: Making a healthier lunch can simply mean adding a piece of fresh fruit and nuts

Lunch: Noodles and chopped vegetables with cheese chunks, popcorn, decaf iced-tea, fruit roll ups
PLUS: Dried Fruit and water
TIP: Use more whole grain breads, cereals and pasta to give child more fiber, as well as make them feel fuller longer

Lunch: Tabouli, grilled tofu, carrots, lemonade, pretzels
PLUS: A small sandwich on whole grain bread
TIP: Encourage you child to exercise, as it makes them fit and strong and builds up a healthy appetite

Lunch: Tortilla rolled up with red beans, salsa & guacamole; mixed berries, water, trail mix
PLUS: A small bar of chocolate
TIP:Let you child choose their lunch from healthy options that you provide
